Earlier this year I was honored to fill the Area 2 vacancy for the Santa Clara County Board of Education. I am now seeking to affirm my work and interest in helping our students by asking for your vote in the November 2018 election.
Trustee Area 2 includes the Cupertino Union, Lakeside, Loma Prieta, Los Gatos Union, Saratoga Union, and Los Gatos-Saratoga Union High School districts and portions of Santa Clara Unified, Sunnyvale, and Fremont Union High School.
My experience as a parent, former elected official, and in my work advocating for our children's health, I bring a broad set of skills and a diverse perspective to the position of trustee. I am ready to continue my service to our students and our community.
Through my son's bravery in confronting a rare syndrome causing a lifetime of medical attention, I have learned persistence. When we seek knowledge and feedback from multiple resources and listen to the voices of those around us, we empower our empathy to better care for our youth and our children.
Lilian Katz’ poem epitomizes my values, “Each of us must come to care about everyone else's children. We must recognize that the welfare of our children is intimately linked to the welfare of all other people's children. After all, when one of our children needs life-saving surgery, someone else's child will perform it. If one of our children is harmed by violence, someone else's child will be responsible for the violent act. The good life for our own children can be secured only if a good life is also secured for all other people's children.”
I look forward to our conversations, and please contact our campaign anytime. Thank you.
